I have always loved albums. That is no question. Every time an album drops by an rapper I like, I go pick it up. However, many times I am let down, as there is a lot of filler, too many club-type jams, etc. With mixtapes it is a different story. Mixtapes very rarely let me down. Whatever mixtape it is I'm checking out, I always know I'm gonna hear some raw, uncut hip-hop and some brand new exclusives.
For instance, when Lil' Wayne dropped mixtape after mixtape a couple summers ago, he was just killing. He had everyone fiending for the Carter 3. It dropped and it was weak as hell. He should have put out one of the mixtapes as the damn Carter 3.
