Stack Bundles mixtapes have become legendary since his unfortunate passing at such a young age. If you're not familiar with Stack Bundles, he was close with Jim Jones, Max B, and part of the Byrdgang squad. Stack Bundles was a phenomenal rapper, and his promising career was cut short way too early. His work on the Riot Squad mixtapes and the DJ Drama Jim Jones "7 Day Theory" mixtape showed his impressive verbal skills.

The newest Stack Bundles mixtape, "Salute Me-The Lost Tapes", features all unheard gems from Stack, dropping with perfect timing to coincide with the anniversary of his death. 50 Cent is one artist that really understands the use of mixtapes to build his career and use them as a vehicle to create a buzz. 50 Cent mixtapes were how he got started in the game. He enlisted the help of DJ Whoo Kid and started to drop the first few (No Mercy No Fear, 50 Cent Is The Future, God's Plan) and build the buzz that soon after had people fiending for his "Get Rich Or Die Trying" album. From then on, 50 Cent has consistently dropped mixtape after mixtape and kept the streets fed in between albums.

The newest 50 Cent mixtape is with Snatchatape and Superstar Jay, titled "50 Cent-Nobody Likes Me". This one features a bunch of 50 Cent exclusives and hard-to-find gems. One of my favorite types of mixtape are the 4-disc sets. Many of them are 3 cds and one dvd, and they are so filled with heat that they are almost too much to take in at once. I usually have to listen to them over a couple day period. They don't drop too often, but when they do they are always bangers.

The newest 4-disc set is "Underworld Supremacy-Streets Is Watching". This one features all the brand newest jams, coupled with a dvd containing all the newest music videos. Cds have new songs from Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Drake, Gucci, Outkast, Kanye, Plies, Cam'ron, Pimp C, Boosie, Jim Jones, Yo Gotti, and many more. The Dvd has Birdman's brand new "Loyalty" video, plus Em's "I Love The Way You Lie", my jam "It Ain't About The Money" with Fat Joe and Trey Songz (Banger!!!), the Hello, Good Morning remix video with Dirty Money, Diddy, Ross, Nicki Minaj, and T.I. and tons more videos. 60 videos in total, and 60 tracks on the discs, this one is perfect for the long road trip.

Flowmasters

Mixtapes are always a good bet. Especially the 4-disc sets. They are always at a good price (between 9.99 and 13.99) and they feature tons and tons of material. Some of them are artist specific, some are all brand new songs, and some feature a dvd with the newest videos, too.

A new 4-disc set that is a little different is "Flowmasters". This one features only freestyles, and from everyone in the game. Rappers included are Bun B, Slim Thug, Pimp C, Lil Boosie, Waka Flocka, OJ Da Juiceman, Eminem, Lil Wayne, Yo Gotti, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Jay-Z, French Montana, Lil Flip, Remy Ma, Big Boi, Cassidy, Paul Wall, Crime Mob, Fabolous, Snoop Dogg, The Game, Young Jeezy, Chamillionaire, Rick Ross, G-Unit, and tons more. These sets are just ludicrous. Also included on top of the 3 cds jammed full of freestyles is a dvd of all rappers freestyling. The dvd includes Lil Wayne, Lil Flip, Bun B, Chamillionaire, Mike Jones, Jeezy, Young Buck, Busta Rhymes, Xzibit, Papoose, and many more. You cannot go wrong with this one. Definitely something not available in any store. Joints like these are why I love mixtapes.

Young Jeezy White America

Young Jeezy mixtapes are always a good bet. Jeezy never wastes time with small talk or weak club hits, but rather he goes in fiercely on every track and achieves a level of rowdiness seldom heard in rap. Ever since his first classic album "Thug Motivation 101" dropped, Jeezy instantly became a rap superstar and a member of hip-hop's elite. Since then, Jeezy has dropped multiple albums and countless mixtapes to become one of the biggest names in southern rap.

The newest Young Jeezy mixtape is titled "Young Jeezy-White America". This special 4-disc set features tons of Young Jeezy exclusives, hits, club bangers, street anthems, and much more. With 67 tracks in total, this is definitely one for your collection. As we impatiently await "Thug Motivation 103", this one should easily keep you sated in the meantime. Bun B Legendary

Bun B is one of the absolute greatest rappers in the game. As one half of the classic group UGK, as well as his astonishing solo career, Bun just kills every track he gets on. I have heard him on nameless rappers' songs and he even kills it on there. He doesn't know how to not spit hard. He has done a bunch of Bun B mixtapes, and they are always lyrically untouchable. I recently watched a UGK dvd that was made before Pimp C passed away (R.I.P. The Pimp!) and Pimp C was saying that Bun B was the coldest rapper from the South, and that he had 100 thousand dollars on Bun destroying any other rapper head-to-head.

The strength of the mixtapes has created a buzz for these artists that without they would never have been as big, and maybe even possibly would have never been heard.

He takes his time and does not rush them, and so when you finally hear the finished product you are suitably impressed.

One of my favorite series of mixtapes is done by DJ Haze. The long-running "Blood Is Thicker Than Water" series features all super hard jams. I became a fan from the first volume and it's stayed just as strong since. These feature a mixture of West Coast and Down South artists, mostly focusing on The Game/Juice/Black Wall Street, Gucci Mane/Waka Flocka and Lil Wayne/Jim Jones/Cam'ron, and when you mix Dipset with Young Money and So Icy/Brick Squad with Black Wall Street it makes for a vicious mixtape.

The newest volume of this killer series is "Blood Is Thicker Than Water 13". This one features new songs like Lil' Wayne - Bill Gates ,Tone Trump ft. The Syndicate DJ Rell We Run FLA

Down South mixtapes just keep getting better and better. The South really stepped their game up the past few years, and they have surpassed the East and the West in sales, music quality, and even just overall swag. One of the hotbeds of activity is Florida. Much of the best music dropping today comes out of Florida. I myself am a huge fan of the 305 sound, and the artists there have a rowdiness and style that is not duplicated in other areas of the country.

The newest mixtape to rep this 305 sound is "The Syndicate DJ Rell We Run FLA". This one is like a new best of Miami. Featuring brand new tracks from Plies, Rick Ross, Trick Daddy, Trina, Ace Hood, Brisco, and more, this one will give anyone unfamiliar with that Florida sound just what they're coming with. Maybe it's something about the heat, but these boys come hard, every time. Trick Daddy is always the real standout here. He just consistently gets stronger as a rapper every year and yet he keeps it so hood. Definitely a mixtape to get you moving on a cold day...

DJ J-Love Cypress Hill Legends Vol.19

DJ J-Love is well known for his popular classic mixtapes series. He picks out many different hip-hop artists and groups, and does fantastic mixtapes that are sort of a mix of best-of their catalogs mixed with some hard to find gems and some new exclusives. He has done them on Big Pun, Big L, Kool G Rap, A Tribe Called Quest, Rakim, Nice And Smooth, Large Professor, Public Enemy, and more.

His newest one hits home with me for sure. This one is one of the most groundbreaking hip-hop groups of all time, Cypress Hill. The mixtape is titled "Legends Vol.19-Cypress Hill". This was a great one to do, as I have never really seen a Cypress Hill mixtape and they brought alot to the game. Their self-titled debut and their classic follow-up "Black Sunday" were both albums that in my high school days we played to death, over and over, while sitting in smoky rooms. This mixtape features all the classics: "How I Could Just Kill A Man", "Cock The Hammer", "Illusions", "Hits From The Bong", "I Wanna Get High", "Hand On The Pump", "Insane In The Brain", and more. It also features an unreleased track "Caliente" and a demo track, as well as a few hard to find joints from the weedmasters themselves. Definitely a solid mixtape for the collection.

DJ J-Love Raekwon Only Built For The Streets Part 4

Of all of the rappers to come out of New York, Raekwon is one who has one of the most solid street reputations, and coming from the Wu-Tang Clan (who were masters of promotion) he quickly understood the importance of mixtapes in keeping his name buzzing. Though there have not been many Raekwon mixtapes, those that have dropped have all been classics and have featured some of his absolute best material.

Raekwon's newest mixtape is with well-known NY DJ J-Love, titled "Only Built For The Streets Part 4", which features some brand new jams from the Chef himself. New tracks include "Six 6's", "Sampson", "Happy New Year", "Super High", and more, as well as great collabos with Busta Rhymes, Mobb Deep, EPMD, The Game, Ghostface, Nas, and more. If you've never heard this entire "Only Built For The Streets" series that Raekwon did with J-Love, you should definitely check them out. Each one is a classic and they all have some of the best material that Raekwon ever did.

DJ J-Love Mobb Deep Mobb Misses Part 5

Of all of the Mobb Deep mixtapes, the ones that they did with New York's own DJ J-Love are probably their best known. Mobb Deep is one of the most classic New York groups, and they built a career around their grimy street rhymes and their vicious, dark, rainy beats brought to you courtesy of well-known beat-maker Havoc, who just so happens to be one half of Mobb Deep, along with Prodigy.

The newest Mobb Deep mixtape is "DJ J-Love Mobb Deep Mobb Misses Part 5". The "Mobb Misses" series from J-Love and Mobb Deep features all kinds of unreleased gems, special tracks, etc. This newest edition is more of the same. Featuring 30 tracks, with new joints like "Thrill Me", "Get Outta My Way", "M.O.B.", "How The Thugs Play", "Stop Chasin", and many more. Mobb Deep is one group that has stayed the same over time. Their first album "The Infamous" is a New York street classic, featuring their anthem "Shook Ones Part 2".

DJ J-Love Redman The Funk Doctor

Of all of the East Coast mixtapes, DJ J-Love mixtapes are some of the most popular. J-Love has a long running series of brand new East Coast traacks, titled "Acknowledge The Takeover". He is also well known for his "Classics" series, where he does individual mixtapes with a variety of classic artists, everyone from Raekwon to Kool G Rap to Slick Rick, Pun, Biggie, Big L, etc.

One artist who doesn't get much mixtape coverage is Redman. The newest mixtape from J-Love is titled "Redman-The Funk Doctor". This one features a crazy best-of Redman. Everything is here, from "How High" with Method Man to "Time For Sum Action" to "Got My Mind Made Up" with 2Pac. This is easily one for your collection. Redman always brings a talent to the game, and when you mix it with his crazy sense of humor, it makes for great music.

DJ Chuck T Down South Slangin 71

DJ Chuck T is best known for his Down South mixtapes. He is easily one of the top Southern DJ's, and his long-running "Down South Slangin" southern rap series is the most popular of all of his series. Matter of fact, that's how I came across him. A friend of mine picked one of them up in a barber shop and asked me if I dealt with him. When I said no, he gave me the mixtape. I played it, contacted Chuck T, and it's been a wrap since then. The Down South Slangin cds are always bonkers.

The newest volume is titled "DJ Chuck T Down South Slangin 71". This one comes hard once again in the usual Chuck T fashion. One of my favorite rappers is easily Sheek Louch. The rawest member of D-Block, he consistently spits fire and gets better every year. Sheek Louch mixtapes are some of the hardest mixtapes ever dropped, PERIOD. They are also great gym music. I lift alot to Sheek's mixtapes, and they provide the perfect soundtrack to either hit that bench or kill that cardio workout.

Sheek's newest mixtape has me super excited. Green Lantern is one of the best DJ's out, and this project is long awaited and long overdue. Titled "Donnie Def Jam", this one is a celebration of two things. An appetizer for Sheek's upcoming new studio album, and his recent signing to Def Jam Records. This entire mixtape is all brand new tracks, with Sheek at the top of his game as usual. Guests include Jadakiss, Beanie Sigel, Styles P, S.I., Joell Ortiz, Masspike Miles and more. This one is crazy. Get on it.

DJ Drama mixtapes are my absolute favorite mixtapes in the game. Drama has always brought something new and fresh to the game and he is singlehandedly responsible for helping to jumpstart the careers of some of the biggest rappers in the game, names like Young Jeezy and Gucci Mane and T.I. and Lil' Boosie. Drama was dropping mixtapes with them when they were still relatively unknown.

Dj Drama has a new mixtape, pairing up with Cookin Soul, titled "History In The Making". Mixing DJ Drama artist exclusives with Cookin Soul's sick remix ability, this one is definitely something different. DJ OP D-Block Hawk Work

Of all the different artists who drop mixtapes, D-Block is by far the most consistent with their material. They came up under Biggie, and all three of them have rap skills that are superior to most everyone in the hip-hop game. There are honestly few who can match them. D-Block mixtapes have been coming out consistently for years and years, and I have yet to ever hear a weak verse spit by Jadakiss, Styles P, or Sheek.

The newest mixtape in the insanely huge D-Block arsenal is brought to you by DJ OP, who is actually a close friend of D-Block's. Titled "D-Block: Hawk Work", this new cd features brand new tracks like "Appalled", "Money", "Outsiders", "Average Person", "Clip Up", "I Am Not The One", "Snitchin", "Closer", and more. Instrumentals mixtapes are always a nice change. They feature just the beats of the songs with no vocals. These are good for aspiring rappers, who wanna spit over other peoples beats. They are also just good for when you're tired of hearing someone talking and just wanna hear some good music. J.Armz has a long-running instrumentals series titled "How To Be An Mc", which takes all of the newest hottest songs and gives you just the instrumentals for them.

While its easy to tell that Lil Wayne mixtapes are easily the biggest and most full collection of any rappers' mixtapes, I am still surprised regularly with the amount of new Wayne mixtapes that drop on a weekly/monthly basis. Lil Wayne has not lost any of his heat through his current incarceration, and he continues to dominate the mixtape market.

Lil' Wayne's newest mixtape is "Prison Break 2.0". This is one to get the masses prepared for his upcoming release date. Featuring all the new Wayne tracks, this one is sure to please. Fabolous Coco Loso

Fabolous is one artist who definitely has used mixtapes to his advantage. Fabolous mixtapes have been one of the main building blocks to making his career have the longevity that it has. Only last year, Fab saw how the mixtapes were getting weak, so he dropped the 2-Part "There Is No Competition" series, which just killed the game. They actually started to print up Part 2 of that mixtape series and sell it in the stores, if you can believe that.

Fabolous' brand new mixtape is titled "Coco Loso". This mixtape features all of Fab's newest material, as even more proof of just why he has remained relevant in the fickle hip-hop game for so long. Fab is one artist who really sounds just as good on an R&B track as he does on a rowdy hip-hop track. He has a smooth style that crosses over easily.

The hip-hop flipside to the new "RnB Season" mixtape that Evil Empire just did with Tapemasters Inc. is "Power Part 3". This is the one for the rap heads. Featuring brand new jams from Jadakiss, Styles P, Drake, Sheek Louch, Lloyd Banks, Vado, Nicki Minaj, Jim Jones, 50 Cent, Juelz Santana, Busta Rhymes, and more, this is more like a line-up for the biggest names in hip-hop.

These mixtapes are always great because they are great front to back. No skipping around, no unknown artists right in the middle of the plays, just bangers all the way through. This is one of the main things that makes a mixtape make the final cut for me. Also the mixing of hard artists from both East and South gives you different styles and flavors, while still making for an overall enjoyable listening experience.

It is always nice to hear a mixtape with the newest stuff on it. Whether East Coast, West or South, I always personally appreciate some new jams to make the day a little better.

Nicki Minaj has been causing quite a stir since she came onto the hip-hop scene a couple of years ago. She first popped out with Lil Wayne, and many dismissed her as just another one-hit wonder or female brought in to simply round out a rap crew. She has proved otherwise. Since then, she has literally taken over the head spot for female queen of hip-hop that had been vacant for some time. Nicki Minaj mixtapes are what she has used to build her empire, as she has not dropped an album yet.

Her newest mixtape is with DJ EV, titled "The Nicki Effect". Featuring the hottest material from the newly appointed queen of hip-hop, new tracks include "Monster", "Check It Out", "Up All Night" with Drake, a new one with Gucci titled "Haterade", and many more. As the fans eagerly anticipate Nicki's debut album which is set to drop within the next couple months, mixtapes like this will continue to keep the buzz growing and growing.

DJ Drama Maino The Art Of War

Of all DJ's, DJ Drama remains my favorite. I have always felt that he brings something new and fresh to the game. He changed the way people view what a DJ does. DJ Drama mixtapes are quite different from any other DJ's mixtapes. Drama, rather than just throwing together new tracks like many other DJ's do, actually goes into the studio with the artists and makes all brand new songs.

Drama's newest mixtape is with New York artist Maino, titled "The Art Of War". It features all brand new music from New York's heavyweight champ. Since his release from prison, Maino has been working hard to build his fanbase and get his name around. I am personally a fan of his, ever since I copped his album just to hear something new and was impressed with how good it was. New tracks on this mixtape include Retaliate, Fu*k You, Ask About Me, Hustle Hard, Maino Nation, ands many more.

TI DJ Drama Down With The King

TI mixtapes have done their part to help cement T.I. into his current position as one of the biggest rappers in the game and the self-proclaimed "King Of The South". T.I. has been working hard for years now to build his career through albums and mixtapes, and his rap game has gotten consistently better with each release.

One of T.I.'s most classic mixtapes of all time (if not THE most classic) is without a doubt the one he did with DJ Drama, the aptly titled Down With The King. This mixtape dropped when TI's popularity was still building and he was beefing with Lil' Flip. This cd is bonkers. Featuring a whole bunch of various exclusives, including various calls with Scarface where he cosigns T.I. in questioning Lil' Flip's background and street credibility. My personal favorite jam is the "Jackin For Beats" freestyle, where Drama keeps switching the beat and TI raps over everyone elses beats. The crazy thing is that the beat switches every 30 seconds or so and TI not only never misses a beat, but he just murders the track. If you've never heard this, you're missing out.

Lil' Boosie Golden Child 4 Play Now Cry Later

Lil' Boosie mixtapes are always heat. Boosie has done what few rappers have ever been able to do. He achieved a huge career and yet stayed in the hood where he started off in, which endeared him to many true gangster hip-hop fans. Boosie's mixtapes have been consistently hard, and fans have come to know that when one drops, it will contain more of the usual down south gangster shit that they have gotten used to.

Lil' Boosie's newest mixtape Golden Child 4 Play Now Cry Later unfortunately comes while he is in prison, awaiting trial for a murder charge with more murder charges pending. This mixtape features the newest of the new, including two brand new worldwide exclusives: "Hey Feds" and "I'm Ballin". Other new tracks include "You Don't Know", "Devils", "Chill Out", "Do It Again", and more.
